The Eye of the Cyclops from Forge of Ice

Created by Alex Bates

The Eye of the Cyclops is a system agnostic RPG sourcebook for tabletop games, and these miniatures are for use with it - as well as an assortment of other figures from the game setting, a Lost World called Azor.

A minor update
over 4 years ago – Fri, Nov 01, 2019 at 01:27:22 AM

Hello folks!

I don't really have much to say, other than I'm still alive and plugging away at this.  I hope (and expect) to have a real update with concrete info "soon", but so far all of my timeline estimates been off, so I'm reluctant to post anything more specific than "soon".

I don't like posting updates with so little content, but, I know it's better than silence, so, here it is.

I see that there are some comments on the main page - I'll address those individually shortly after this is posted.

Home from Gen Con and casting has begun!
over 4 years ago – Sat, Aug 17, 2019 at 10:20:20 PM

Heya Everyone!

It was nice meeting some of you at Gen Con - thanks to the people who reached out and said hello!

I'm home, I've fought through some jet lag and con crud, and I'm back to work.

Casting has begun - the caster sent me a pic of one of the molds in this batch (mostly extras and add-ons in this particular mold, Shadow Apes and the giant Otter):

Shadow Apes, Giant Otter, and the urn that's part of the Cult Treasure.

The casting will be taking place over the next few weeks, then another week for transit back to Alaska, then maybe a week for me to get everything sorted and prepped for shipping...  Maybe that timeline is overly optimistic, but, even if we add some time to allow for the unexpected, fulfillment is approaching quickly.

I think that about covers what I've got for now!

Molds and Casting (and Gen Con!)
almost 5 years ago – Sat, Jul 13, 2019 at 03:28:00 AM

Heya Everybody,

Just a small update on the molds and casting of the metal figures.

Now that I have the counts of how many of each figure I'll need, the caster is getting ready to begin production on the metal figures.  However, he's pretty busy right now prepping things for Gen Con.  The molds should be finished by the end of the month, and casting should begin in early August, immediately after the convention.

Speaking of Gen Con, I'll be there.  As a fan, not as a vendor - there's no 'Forge of Ice' booth.  But I will be bringing some of the Eye of the Cyclops stuff with me, so, if you'd like to meet up and check it out, I'd be happy to show you.  I think I can easily carry a case of minis with me in my backpack while I'm wandering around the con.

I'm driving down to Indianapolis, and the Kickstarter mobile interface is not great, so Kickstarter messages will not be a good way to get ahold of me immediately before or at the con, but I'll still have quick and easy access to the Forge of Ice Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages.  Send me a message and I'll do what I can to arrange a meetup.  If there's a lot of interest I'll set up an 'official' time and place where I'll be with the minis.  If it's just a couple of folks, I'm happy to meet people individually as schedules permit.

And (a little off-topic, but some people have expressed interest, so,) we finally got some rain here in the middle of Alaska, so the fires and smoke have calmed down somewhat, so that's good news, too.

I think that's about it for now!
