The Eye of the Cyclops from Forge of Ice

Created by Alex Bates

The Eye of the Cyclops is a system agnostic RPG sourcebook for tabletop games, and these miniatures are for use with it - as well as an assortment of other figures from the game setting, a Lost World called Azor.

Alright! Backer Kit Locked down, cards have been charged.
almost 5 years ago – Wed, Jul 10, 2019 at 12:22:37 AM

Hello everyone, thank you all for filling out the forms in the Backer Kit!

Credit Cards have been charged - once all that is sorted out (it shouldn't be more than a couple of days), I'll have my exact counts and the caster can get to work on the minis.  If there's a problem with your card, don't worry, I won't ping it a dozen times - I'll email you individually and work it out.

With Gen Con right around the corner, casting might take a few weeks - once I get the counts to him I'll get an estimate on the timeline & let you all know.  At a glance, looks like it's over 2500 miniatures and parts.

I think that's about it for now - I'll post an update again when I have an estimate back from the caster on how long production will take.

Cheers!

Final 48 Hours for the Backer Kit!
almost 5 years ago – Sun, Jul 07, 2019 at 01:22:51 AM

Hello everybody!

First up, I'd like to thank everyone who has filled out their surveys through Backer Kit.

These surveys are an important step because they sort out things like your mailing address, allow you to access the .PDF download of the booklet (which is being fulfilled through Backer Kit), and it gives me the exact numbers of miniatures being ordered so that I can tell the caster how many to cast up.  I do have extras made so that I can keep some stock on hand, but usually only a relatively small number (25-50) of each figure.

I'm still waiting on about 40 responses, but I'd really like to close this thing so that I can move on to the casting phase and then start shipping rewards.

So I'm calling it - I'm going to lock the Backer Kit down in 48 hours.

If you're having any sort of issue or problem with Backer Kit, the forms, filling them out or submitting them etcetera, please let me know - post a comment or send me a message here on KS.  I'll do whatever I can to work with you to solve things.

I'll be sending a reminder survey out immediately after posting this update - it *should* only go to people who haven't yet filled theirs out.

I'll also mention that here in the middle of Alaska we're getting record high temperatures, smoke, forest fires, and some neighborhoods in the borough have even been evacuated in anticipation of the advancing fires (I'm told we've even made the national news a few times)... I don't anticipate any problems where I live (my house and neighborhood are almost certainly safe), but if that changes I'll post something to let everyone know.

I hope everyone is having an excellent weekend!

Some people didn't get a survey - that should now be fixed.
almost 5 years ago – Sun, Jun 23, 2019 at 11:47:21 PM

Hello everybody!

I hope you are all having an excellent Solstice!  We're enjoying the midnight sun here in the middle of Alaska.

I have received a few messages and comments from people saying that they never got the survey when I initially sent it.

I think that issue has now been resolved, and a few minutes ago I re-sent the surveys out to those who missed it the first time, as well as reminders to the people who haven't yet responded.

Please check your email if you haven't yet gotten a survey & let me know if it still hasn't shown up.  Once in a great while they can end up in your 'Spam' folder, so it might be worth checking there, first.

Thank you very much to everyone who has already filled out their surveys, it is much appreciated.

Cheers!

The armored cyclops, or the original cyclops in the loincloth?
almost 5 years ago – Thu, Jun 13, 2019 at 02:27:15 AM

Heya folks!

It's been 24 hours, and about 100 people have already filled out the Backer Kit surveys.  Thank you very much!

It looks like things are going pretty smoothly with the surveys, except for one thing!

I've had several requests from people who prefer the original loincloth-clad cyclops to the new armored cyclops.

Because of that stretch goal early on, the default model that you get with the full set is the Armored Cyclops, NOT the loincloth-clad original.

However - if you prefer the original version, the unarmored sculpt in the loincloth, that's totally fine, I can swap them out.

That seems to be something I left out of the Backer Kit, an option to choose which model you prefer.

So, if your pledge level comes with a cyclops and you want the armored cyclops - cool, that's the default, you don't need to do or say anything.

If you prefer the original unarmored guy in the loincloth, please comment here or send me a message and I'll add you to the list to swap them out when I pack things.

I'm just keeping a word document list of the people to swap Armored Cyclopes out for Unarmored Cyclopes, that should work just fine since I'll be doing the packing in my living room!

I think that about covers it for now.  I'll check in again soon!

Surveys have been sent!
almost 5 years ago – Tue, Jun 11, 2019 at 11:41:01 PM

Hello everybody!

The smoke test seemed to go well, so about 45 minutes ago I sent the surveys out!

If you don't see it in your inbox, please check your spam filter - they do occasionally end up flagged. If you haven't gotten your survey, please comment or message me, I should be able to sort that out quickly.

If you've used Backer Kit before, you'll be familiar with the process.  If not, it's basically a checkout system that itemizes add-ons in a way that Kickstarter's add-on system does not.

For me, it's useful because it lets me know exactly how many miniatures I need to order cast up.

I plan to leave the surveys open for a little more than two weeks - I'll give multiple heads-ups in advance before I close it.  If there are a large number of people left at the end who haven't filled it out, I might leave it open a bit longer, but, the plan is two weeks.

Casting the miniatures should begin immediately after that - and the booklet should be at the printer during that time.   Let's assume two or three weeks for casting (and then shipping them back to me in Alaska, that can take another week).

I'll send out the digital copies of the booklet at the same time as I begin shipping physical rewards - which should be, barring catastrophe or delays, in the very beginning of August.

Thank you all again for your patience and your support, and please let me know if anything is wonky with the survey page.
